“Ah, I knew it was a shoe bite.”

Despite my calm voice, Lord Nazelbert, sitting in front of me, frowned and looked impatient.

“Oh my God, you're bleeding.
We'll patch you up when we get back to the villa.”

“It's not that big of a deal.”

I usually leave it as it is because it will heal even if I leave it alone.
It's not like I have a party every day, so I can get by with it.

“Those shoes don't fit your feet right, do they?”

“Heh, heh, indeed they don't.
They are my grandmother's shoes and they are a little smaller than my feet.
If I have patience, I can just barely fit into them, so I wear them to parties.”

“Is the Marquisate of Evantail so poor ……?”

“No, it's just that my parents are obsessed with old things.”

In the middle of our conversation, the coachman stopped and announced that we had arrived at the duke's house.

Lord Nazelbert told the coachman to “Deliver my shoes later,” and got out of the coach with me in his arms, barefoot.

“Um, I can't visit the duke's house with my bare feet!”

It is indeed too rude.
My nerves are not that thick.

“I was going to the remote house.
We won't see anyone, so you can be at ease.”

“Even if you say so…”

Being princess carried is nerve-wracking.
The heavy dress would have put a strain on his arms as well.

In the end, while I was stiff and nervous, I was carried to the duke's detached house.

The duke's garden is beautifully landscaped, with a row of rose hedges taller than I am.

This is the kind of place where you can definitely get lost.
Once you enter, you can't get out alone!

As I was thinking this, we arrived in front of a rustic building.

It was a new, warm, wooden building, larger than most people's houses, but too small to be a mansion, with the atmosphere of a studio.

“We've arrived at the house.
You can stay here for a while.”

Lord Nazelbert rushed inside with me in his arms.
His steps were somewhat light.

“Don't worry, you can relax here.”

Lord Nazelbert looked a little more relaxed than when we had met at the castle.
Although shaken, he is still gracious…

“Hee……
even though it's away from everything, it's a beautiful building.”

The interior, with its wooden floors and walls, is relatively new and the stylish furnishings are modern.
It is a somewhat relaxing space that does not look too much like an aristocrat.

Lord Nazelbert entered the large room at the front of the hall, gently set me down on a sofa covered with an expensive-looking quilt, and sat himself down on a chair across from me.
He then pats my leg with his own hand.
Is there no servant?

“Let me introduce myself once again.
I am Nazelbert, second son of the Dukes of Florescence.”

“I am Agnes Evantail, eldest daughter of the Marquise de Evantail.
Thank you very much for saving me from having nowhere to go.”

“I am the reason you were evicted from your home.
I hope you'll at least let me protect you…….
I know you may not like the idea of being taken care of by me.”

“That's not the case.
I appreciate it!”

I was lost on the road, and it was a great help that Lord Nazelbert came to me.

I never thought that a duke would care about someone like me.

“I hope you have a good rest of the day.
My room is at the end of the corridor, yours is upstairs.”

“Thank you for having your room ready for me.”

“It might be a short time before we head for the frontier, but I hope we can get along well.
I'll be downstairs, so if you need anything, just let me know.”

When he said this, I twisted my neck and said, “Hmm?”.

“Wait.
Is Lord Nazelbert going to stay with you here in the villa?”

“Yes.
Because I am a criminal, I am not allowed to enter the main residence.
My parents are in the process of asking the king to commute my sentence, and I expect to hear from him in a few days.”

“Is that so?”

I'm sure His Majesty the King and Her Royal Highness the Queen will make a calm decision, but…

No matter what the situation may be, my hard-headed father will not allow me to return to the manor.

Dismayed and worried about his future, Lord Nazelbert said apologetically.

“Miss Agnes.
Maybe you'll end up on the frontier with me.”

“That's right, Her Royal Highness the Princess mentioned something about 'exile.'”

“The frontier is very rural.
And there are a lot of magical beasts.”

A magical beast is a beast with magical power.
In this country, animals without magical power are called beasts, and animals with magical power are called magical beasts to distinguish them.
The danger level is higher for magical beasts.

“Since the Marquisate of Evantail is also a rural area, I believe it is no less remote.”

Perhaps my nonchalant answer bothered him, but Lord Nazelbert seemed concerned and gripped my shoulders with both hands.

“You are about to be exiled because of your involvement in the engagement party, you know? Don't you blame me?”

“I don't blame you.
I was shocked when I was kicked out of my house.
But, what can I say, I originally wanted to go to the monastery, so it doesn't bother me that much.”

Lord Nazelbert looks stunned.

“A monastery? Why such a place?”

 ……Well, you'd be surprised, wouldn't you?
