Magician’s Quill of Fate

Junia and the Mission

”RAAAGGHHHHH! ”

After letting out a ferocious battle cry, the Earth Troll grabbed a large wooden beam from the flattened pile and charged directly at me. Yet despite my predicament, I was hardly scared.

Trolls are large, slow, and incredibly stupid. If this troll thinks its crushed me it won second guess it until it sees me again. I thought as I crouched behind the wooden plank while waiting for the troll to get closer.

As the Earth Trolls foot stomped not even a meter away from my face, it let out a menacing roar before swinging its wooden beam mace down where I crouched.

Yet just before the wooden beam made contact with my wooden plank shield, I let go of the beam and rolled underneath the troll, only to stop by his backfoot.

Alright, lets hope this works. I thought to myself, wiping the blood off the quill before opening the slightly scabbed wound on my finger with the quills tip.

I brought the quills tip towards the translucent rectangle that appeared on the trolls leg, only to feel a gaze staring deep into me from above.

”Fuck! ” I yelled out as I darted out from under the troll just before its foot could land where I previously stood.

”HRRRRRG… Blood… ” The troll suddenly groaned as its gaze ravenously at my bleeding hand.

It can speak, and it either has a higher level of combat sense or it has a really good nose… The only way thats possible is if somebody had been training this thing in secret… I thought to myself as I readied myself to dash toward the troll.

Yet as I pushed forward toward the troll, it quickly jumped into the air, leaving giant footprints in the cobblestone road where it previously stood.

”Youve got to be kidding me! ” I yelled as I skidded to a stop just before the footprints and darted backward to avoid the falling troll.

THUD!

”So the higher level of combat sense was right on the mark, wasn it?! ” I yelled at the troll as I avoided the cracks splitting the road apart starting from where the troll landed.

”HRRRRRRG… Human… Blood… Hungry… ”

So it knows more than one word, this troll was definitely trained by a human. I thought to myself as I slowly approached the troll.

Yet suddenly, the troll turned away from me and looked in the direction Hendrickson and Junia had run off in.

”Young… Freessh… Bloood… ” The troll stammered as it began walking down the path Hendrickson had run down, staring down a small figure in the distance with every step it took.

”What the hell? Why is it walking away from me while talking about young blo–! Hendrickson! ”

I darted behind the troll and stared between its giant legs to see what the troll was staring down, only to see the minuscule outline of a boy with a hole in his clothes right where his heart would be.

”Fuck! Hendrickson get away! ” I howled as I darted through the trolls legs to try and get its attention.

Yet the troll paid no attention to me as it mindlessly walked toward Hendrickson.

Wait, isn this the perfect opportunity? I thought as I looked at the dried blood on the quills tip.

I swiftly wiped the blood off the tip and plunged the quill into my forearm, causing the translucent rectangle to appear upon the trolls leg once more.

”HRRRNNGG… Blooood! ”

The troll unexpectedly shifted from a slow walk to a run as it charged directly at Hendrickson.

”Hendrickson! Run! ”

”No mister! You saved me, so now I have to save you! ” Hendrickson yelled back as the trolls feet stomped right in front of his face.

”HRRRRRNNNGGG… Foood! ”

The troll slowly bent over toward Hendrickson as I caught up to it, grabbing Hendrickson by his arm as I delved the quills tip into the translucent rectangle.

CRACK!

”AGRHHHHHH! ”

-Fall asleep.

I looked up from the translucent rectangle at Hendrickson, only to be greeted with the sight of the trolls hand holding Hendricksons severed left arm.

”Hendrickson! ”

”Mister Kane! Watch out! ” Hendrickson cried out through tears of pain as he collapsed from the blood loss.

I quickly looked up and saw the giant Earth Trolls body collapsing right on top of me, just barely avoiding getting flattened as I leaped out from under the troll.

”Shit that was close! Hendrickson, what the hell were you thinking?! ”

I looked down at Hendricksons unconscious body and let out a deep sigh.

”His arm is regenerating so he probably won be asleep for long. His young mind probably couldn handle that much pain at once. ” I said to myself as I hoisted Hendrickson over my shoulders and walked in the direction he had ran in with Junia earlier.

”Brother! ” I heard Junia yell as she hobbled over to me.

”Junia was it? Your brother is going to be alright, he just needs a bit of rest. ”

”Whered his arm go mister? ”

”The monster got it, but I put a spell of some sort on him to make it grow back. On the topic of injuries, what happened to your leg? ”

”My leg has always been bad, I could never walk properly because of it. ”

”Here, sit down. Ill fix it for you just like your brothers arm. ”

”The doctors said it can be fixed though… ”

”Trust me on this Junia, what Im about to do might hurt a little bit, but it will fix all of your injuries. ”

”Alright, mister. I don like pain, but if I can have my leg fixed then Ill endure it! ”

”Good girl, now sit down and let me see your leg.

As Junia sat down on the road and pulled up her baggy pant leg, I wiped the blood off the quills tip and let it soak up a couple of drops of the still-bleeding wound on my hand, allowing a translucent square to appear on her disfigured lower leg.

However, just as I was about to write in the translucent square, a glimpse of sorrow spread throughout my mind.

It would be cruel of me to make her brother immortal, while she can only heal from this disfigured leg. And since I have to go make peace throughout the world, I might as well start my acts of kindness now. ”

-Will heal from all wounds.
