My Billionaire couch potato.

Chapter 6: \"Fifty dollars.\"

Luke gets into the car that was probably waiting for him all the while he had been in the cafe with me and he waves by as he leaves.

Hes a really good friend.

I grip the invitation in my hand tightly and I let out a sigh.

Too bad Im not.

I put the invite in the pocket of my apron and I walked back into the cafe.

Bistros cafe is owned by Mr David Filcher, a friend of my mums, at least according to him.

He says they had grown up together and that he was later informed that she had gotten married to someone who loved her and she had a kid with that man.

I don really see the use in correcting him. The story he has in his head makes him think i am the perfect person to handle the responsibility that is his cafe.

Children from perfect families are always perfect after all.

”Thanks for coming. Drop by again. ”

The couple give me a small nod and smile as they exit.

I don think I have disappointed Mr Dave too much on that end. The cafe is doing well and I always manage to raise more than the amount we decided i submit every week.

He drops by once a month to check on the status of his chairs and the other equipment. I always make sure they are in tip top condition so after every monthly checkup he leaves with a smile on his face.

I also run three more jobs. I already missed my shift at one of them because of this whole couch potato business. Once its five Ill need to shut down the cafe for a while so I can go attend to my dog sitting duties and after that i come back here to open for the night shift.

When I close at twelve I go over to the docks and help some of the men there unload the crates they need to get off a ship. For some odd reason the ship only makes midnight arrivals, but I know better than to ask any questions.

The pay is good and I don fancy living amongst the fish just yet.

The bell jingles again, signaling either the entry or exit of a customer.

I am cleaning the spill on one of the tables so I don know which.

I clear the table and smile at my only other co-worker.

Bryan, works in the kitchen and helps with all the complicated coffee mixes.

We work okay together, assuming he comes early and he doesn shout at me.

”Hey. Do I need to scream before I get some service around here? ”

The voice makes my ears tingle, because where else have I heard someones voice drip with uncontrolled contempt and spite?

I turn back to see my couch potato, in the flesh and in one of my shirts.

His hair looks sort of wet, or rather its sort of always like that. It always has that wet and sleek look to it.

His face is set into a scowl and his huge hands are crossed over his broad chest.

Someone must have gotten him another pair of jeans because Ash jeans don fit him at all. They draw my eyes to places they aren supposed to go to.

With his shirt riding above his waistline even as he stands and with him completing the outfit with a pair of boots…

He looks imposing.

Imposing and surprisingly something else.

I throw that thought out of my mind and decide within myself to approach this matter like a calm person.

I walk over to him and gesture to a seat.

A polite smile is on my face and I nod as he sits.

”What can I get you sir? ”

”What trash do you serve in this place? ”

The calm expression I am trying to keep on my face threatens to crumble but I beg myself to keep it up.

Keep it together Alex.

I walk over to the counter and grab the menu. We don serve much.

On days I need more income I skip school and lie about my age so I can run a sort of breakfast service. But that isn today so we only have the regulars.

Mr Couch potato gives a passing glance to the menu I handed over to him and focuses his eyes on me instead.

”Did you fall down on your head as a baby? I asked a question, didn i? Shouldn I be getting an answer? ”

I can feel the focus of everyone in the cafe on me.

On us really.

This piece of overgrown s***.

I clench my teeth and pick up the menu from where he flicked it off to.

With that long suffering smile still on my face I handed it back to him.

”The average customer is given the honor of getting to read the menu first. Im answering your question and paying you the honor that is due. ”

There is that tight clench in his jaw again and I swear I can hear the teeth crunch as he grinds them together.

He has a very remarkable jaw.

”Get me anything I can eat. ”

I nod.

I feel someone snag my wrist and pull me with such speed that instead of stopping in front of his face, I almost crash into it.

His eyes look like dark pearls this close but the look on his face is a clear sneer.

”Don be all day getting it done either. ”

I bite the temptation to say ”yes your majesty ” and I give a simple nod instead.

”Ill be as quick as i can. ”

I move back and walk over to Bryan. Hes older than I am but he insists I call him Bryan instead of Mr Bryan.

Hes smiling when I come in and he cocks a n eyebrow towards the demon we have in the seat beside the window.

”New customer eh? ”

I nod and smile back.

”He wants something to eat. ”

My mind chooses this moment to wonder why the couch potato smells faintly of smoke.

Bryan only nods his head and sets to work.

Ill have to figure out the costs we
e running later.

Right now, Im trying my best not to make that decision to poison somebody.
