Chapter 301 – Girl and days without the educator – Part one

It’s been a few days since Miss Lan and the others left, and something doesn’t feel right about my daily life.

I’ve been with her all this time.
She’s never been away for so long, so it feels lonely when I wake up.

I think people know I feel lonely, because they talk to me more than usual.

“Lerunda, let’s go hunt!!”

“Yes.”

Kayu invited me, so today I’m going out to hunt.

She says she wants to get stronger because she wants to visit the ruins too.

We go outside with Reimar and Scifo.
Also, I’m carrying Doanea on my back.
Doanea keeps telling me they’re not a baby, but it hasn’t even been a year since Doanea was born, so I don’t think that’s true.

But on the other hand, are dragons a little different? I’ll have to ask Mister Douroean to tell me more when we go visit him.

The five of us find a monster outside the village.
Kayu approaches it with very nimble movements and takes it down in a second.
Wow.
I’m impressed by how lightly she moves her body.
She approached the monster with those light movements and a sword in hand and killed it in an instant.

I can use magic better than her, but my physical abilities can’t compete with hers, so I think it’s amazing.

In fact, I get the feeling that she’s quicker and sharper than the last time I saw her do this.
She’s so cool.

“Kayu, incredible.”

“Fufu, right? It’s the result of all my effort.”

“Yes.
Kayu, you work hard.”

I agree, because I know how much she tries.

I don’t want to lose, so I use my magic to hunt too.
Still, even if I’m good at using magic, I want to get better at other things so I can still do something if I’m in a situation where I can’t use magic.
That’s why I also use a sword.

Miss Lan said it’s good to learn different things in case something happens, and I agree.
Increasing the things I can do will be good for the future.

“Swords, are hard.”

“But you’re better than before.
You’re doing well, Lerunda.”

“Maybe.
I hope so.”

“You are.”

I think I still have a long way to go before I can really use a sword, but hearing Kayu praise me makes me happy.

For some reason, it makes me feel happier to have someone tell me I’m doing well than just thinking to myself that I am.

We keep hunting for a while, and then we take the monsters apart and go home.

We sell them in the store, and the meat gets put in the food storage.

Mister Sadda says he wants to open another place where he only sells meals, but there’s a lot he has to think about before he opens another store.

He also looks lonely because Miss Lan is away from the village.
I think it’s because they’re friends.

Now it’s time for lunch.
We have meat from the monsters we just hunted and fish from the lake.
We can cover them with seasonings made from herbs.

Not everyone from the village is here, but eating with lots of people is fun.
It also distracts me from feeling lonely about Miss Lan.
I really have to focus, because I don’t want to worry her.

I feel lonely, but I’m already twelve.
I’m getting closer to being an adult, so I want to be able to be alone if I have to.

Twelve…

I feel a lot more grown up than I was when my parents abandoned me, but I’m still a kid compared to the adults.

But one day I’m going to be an adult like Miss Lan and Mister Dongu…

“Lerunda, what are you going to do after this?”

“Gaius, Phyto, and I are going to test our abilities some more.
I still don’t know everything about what I can do.”

“I see.
It’s important to know yourself!!”

Says Kayu with a smile.

Earlier today she was saying she’s going to study.

She’s been reading a lot of stuff like the knowledge grandma left behind and things Miss Lan compiled into books.
An adult from the village has been teaching too.

Kayu says she isn’t good at studying, but wants to learn at least the minimum.

I take Gaius and Phyto outside the village so we can continue testing our powers.

I’m the miko, so my powers are particularly mysterious, but I’m sure learning how to do more things will help in the future.

“Phyto, if I’m like your people’s daughter of god, is there anything else you think I can do?”

“Communicate with god and see the future… That’s what our legends say.
Can’t you communicate with god?”

“No, I don’t know god’s voice.
I’ve never heard it.
The closest thing I can think of is when I create a new ‘knight of the miko’ and have a dream about it.”

Communicate with god… I can’t do that, but will I be able to talk to god one day?

That gets my mind racing.

“Didn’t Miss Lan say miko can control the weather?”

“Yes, she did.
But how do you control the weather?”

“Hn, I don’t know.”

I think about what Gaius is saying, but in the end, I just don’t know.

I’ll have to ask Mister Douroean more about it next time I see him.
