That night, Jiang Xiaoqing was the living example of Murphy’s Law.

At 9:15 PM, just when Gu Nian had finished washing up and was getting ready to go to bed for the early day the next morning, her cellphone vibrated.

The caller was Jiang Xiaoqing.

Gu Nian had a bad feeling.

As soon as she picked up the phone, a voice with fear and choked back and tears came over the receiver, “Gu..
Gu Nian, something happened over here.
Can you… can you please come?”

“……”

Under Jiang Xiaoqing’s broken explanation, Gu Nian was finally able to piece together what had happened.

Apparently, the friend whom Jiang Xiaoqing had met online wasn’t as “nice” as she had described.
He had asked her to meet him at a bar and, while they were having a good time chatting, a woman showed up with two of her friends.
They started shouting at Jiang Xiaoqing for being the third person and that she was seducing her boyfriend – the “nice single guy” that Jiang Xiaoqing had met online.

Jiang Xiaoqing loved handsome men but she was all bark and no bite.
She ran to hide in the restroom and called Gu Nian through the banging on the door and while choking back her tears.

After hearing the entire story, Gu Nian sighed and said, “Don’t go outside until I get there.”

“O… okay.
I am too afraid to go out.” Jiang Xiaoqing, scared beyond words, promised her through trembling voice.

Gu Nian hung up the phone, rolled out of her bed, and ran in front of her closet.
She was just about to pull out her jeans when she saw the full-length mirror next to her.

In the mirror, the girl had on a wide and loose white tee that went down to her thighs.
Her long hair that was black like crow’s feathers cascaded down.
On her clean, pointy face was a pair of innocent-looking dole-like eyes with a small nose and cat-like lips.

Her appearance could be described as — Attack: 0.

She had no time to hesitate.

Gu Nian let go of the pair of jeans that she was holding onto and reached into the darker corner of her closet.

QUEEN was the largest bar in City K located on the western end of the city.
It’s a city of its own that never slept.
Lights hustled and bustled every night and loud and unscrupulous music blasted at every customer’s ears and nerves.

The booths were located on the edge of the bar and each table were surrounded by a circular couch, somewhat similar to a private room.
They provided more privacy and were relatively quieter.

Keyword being “relatively.”

Luo Xiu leaned inside the couch and looked up slowly at the woman who was blocking his sight.

The woman had on a tight cotton tee-shirt and she was big-chested.
She didn’t care about that at all.
With one knee bent, she leaned up against the man and her chest was almost all over the man.

Perhaps she had just returned from the dance floor and her cheeks were a red color somewhere between working out and drunk.
There was unconcealed excitement in her voice.
“Hi there, handsome.
Are you here by yourself?”

The floral smell attacked his nose.
Her makeup almost made him gag.

Luo Xiu looked just the same as he did before.
He didn’t try to avoid her.
Even the little bit of smile remained on him.
Only his indifferent eyes behind his spectacles lowered slightly.

“No.” He said.

“Then where are your friends? How come they are not here with you?”

As she spoke, the woman had already sat down on the couch.
She took the opportunity of talking to him to get even closer.
She seemed oblivious to the fact that her chest had brushed past the man’s arm.

She looked at the man’s profile with anticipation.
Under the dim and obscure light of the bar, the outline from his forehead to his nose bridge to his lip was incredibly attractive.
She had been observing him with her girlfriends for half of the night and discussed about how incredible a man like that would be in bed before she made a bet with her girlfriends that she was going to bed this man tonight one way or another.

He didn’t turn her down when she chatted him up nor when she got close to him.
It looked to her like she was already 99% there.

As such, even though she had gotten no response from the man whatsoever, the woman pressed on harder.
Her soft body was almost all over the man’s arm and her voice, soft and light, said, “It looks like your friends are not here yet.
Why don’t I buy you a drink?”

The woman’s red lips and breath were almost touching the man’s clavicle under his shirt.

“No, thank you.”
