The Adventures Between the Two Rivers.
Fire\'s Freedom
Sinmara was sitting within a bar at Sardathrion, the Marble City.
Everyone within the bar could not help but admire the embodiment of beauty, which was Sinmara.
Her hair was like autumn. Her eyes – summer. Her skin – winter. And her smile – spring. She moved like a swan, while giving off the aura of a lioness.
” We have guests, ” said Hálogi.
Sirrush, the Dragon Man, and Glöð, a Gala Priest. Both now sat down by Sinmaras table.
(Here are some facts about Sinmaras two new companions. Sirrush, the Dragon Man, is a male Ubaid Lizard. Who looks more like a dragon than a lizard. One day. Sirrush will travel east, where his remains are eventually found. And today, he is known as: The Dragon Man.
Glöð, a Gala Priest. Glöð was once a man. But by the grace of Inanna, Glöð, physically, became a woman. But, during this story, I will be referring to Glöð as: they.)
” You two ready? ” said Sinmara.
The two of them nodded.
Sinmara finished her drink. She then got on her feet. And all three exited the bar, as Sinmara said farewell to Margot Vernee and Paul Munn.
The three companions got on their steeds.
” Are you ready, Blagdaross? ” said Sinmara, as she mounted her most loyal companion.
” Of course! ” exclaimed the excited horse.
” Are you ready? ” said Sinmara with a smile.
” Always, ” said Hálogi.
(For those wondering. Sinmara and Hálogi have become good and close friends. Not only has Hálogi given Sinmara full access to his powers and abilities. But he also advises and communicates with Sinmara from within her body.)
The three of them now set off. They were on a mission; to free Prometheus.
” Excuse me, sir, but are you alright? ” said a concerned citizen.
The man now noticed the red skin.
” He has been infected… he has become a Lars… ”
The Lars now proceeded to roast the poor citizen to mere ashes.
There is a disease called: Sāmānu – The Red Disease. The people infected with this disease either become Lars or Lamias(Lars – male, Lamias – female).
The people infected with Sāmānu have red skin, black hair – or ashen hair – and blue eyes. And when they become a full-on Lars or Lamias. They gain the power of Maqlû, burning, or in other words: fire. Hence their nickname: The Fire Demons.
The gang were making their way to Hadoth.
The wind was fair, and Sirrush felt a song coming.
” Her beauty bright as flames! – Sinmara smiled – their frame is fair! – Glöð giggled – and this lively lizard! We ride to free fire! He who first brought fire! He who was unjustly punished. Atop the peak, the eager eagle is eating, while the hero howls in horror… ”
” Got a bit dark in the end, ” said Glöð.
” That is why ” said Sinmara with a smile; ” we plan on bringing back the light ”
” Let there be light, ” said Hálogi.
The gang now rode past the peak, where The Black Crusader (by Alicia Ramsey) guards the entrance of a treasure: The Booty of Baphomet. But don get your hopes up. Even if you were able to get past the Black Crusader – which is very unlikely. You still have to defeat Baphomets pet: Poreskoro.
” Whoeer this tomb shall spoil for pelf
Shall toll his funeral bell himself ” said Sinmara with a smile, as the gang rode past the Sleeping Squire.
The Black Crusader turned his head, as he noticed Lú-érim, a powerful Lars, following the gang from behind.
Everyone dismounted their steeds, as they had arrived at Hadoth.
” Don cause any trouble, ” said Sinmara, as she petted Blagdaross.
” I can make no such promise! ” exclaimed the horse.
” Here is some wheat and water ”
Blagdaross paused.
” I will take a break! ”
The gang entered the saloon.
The men, the women, and everyone in between, all gazed thirstily at the three travelers. Yes, even at Sirrush the Dragon Man.
Sinmara ordered the drinks.
” Will we be here for long? ” asked Glöð.
” We are just passing by, ” answered Sinmara.
” More drinks! ” yelled the thirsty Sirrush.
” He is at least able to quench his thirst ” said Glöð, as they sip their drink.
” What do you mean? ” said Sinmara.
” Look around you ”
Sinmara noticed all the thirsty people.
” Well ” said Sinmara with a smile; ” we could take a day to relax ”
” And to loosen up, ” said Glöð with a wink.
” Excuse me, maam; someone outside is asking for you, ” said a small boy.
Sinmara thanked the boy. She then made her way to the doors.
” Wait! ”
But Hálogis warning came too late.
It happened in an instant.
Glöð and Sirrush both saw the blood. A sharp pain shot through Sinmaras entire body… well. Almost her entire body.
A fierce and powerful Lamia had cut Sinmaras left arm clean off.
With a slam, Sinmara fell to the floor. As Sinmara was slowly falling unconscious. She saw Sirrush rush to kill the Lamia, while Glöð rushed to her side.
Hálogi did his best to ease her pain.
When Sinmara opened her eyes again, she saw that she was being carried by Sirrush, while Glöð was running beside them.
Sinmara looked to her left, and sure enough; her arm was gone. She passed out once more.
When she slowly awoke. Sinmara noticed that she was in a bed: within a blacksmith hut.
” Easy ” said Hálogi, as Sinmara forced herself to sit up.
” What happened? ” uttered Sinmara, dazed, as she was rubbing her face with her right hand.
Sinmara now noticed the bandages, and that something was missing.
” Damn, ” said Sinmara.
” What? ”
” My baseball career ”
Hálogi giggled.
” She is awake! ” exclaimed Glöð, as they jumped in to give Sinmara a hug.
” Injury, injury… ” said Sinmara, as Glöð was hugging her too tightly.
” Sorry ”
” I knew that it would take more than that to kill you, ” said Sirrush with a smile.
” Damn straight ” said Sinmara, as the two of them bumped fists; ” where are we? ”
” This hut belongs to a lizard friend of mine. We are safe here, ” said Sirrush.
Sinmara looked around.
” Your friend is a blacksmith? ”
Sirrush nodded.
” And all Ubaid Lizards are masters of craft and forge, right? ”
Sirrush nodded once more.
” What are you getting at? ” said Glöð.
Sinmara rubbed her injury.
” I would like to hire your friend, ” said Sinmara with an excited smile.
The Blacksmith now got to work. He worked night and day, for this was going to be his masterpiece.
” She is quite the beauty, ” said the blacksmith.
” She is, ” said Sinmara, as she ran her hand down her new arm.
The blacksmith had created a futuristic prosthetic arm, made of Lizardite, a rare and mythical metal, which only the Ubaid-Lizards have access to.
” It kinda looks like Airgetláms Silver Arm, ” said Glöð.
” I did model it after his ” said the lizard with a smile; ” but, I call this arm: Panus Poleastis Prosthetic ”
Sinmara noticed something on the arm.
” It has a grappling hook? ”
The blacksmith nodded, as he picked up the arm.
The blacksmith activated the device, and the grappling hook went flying into a wall.
” Wow ” said Glöð, impressed.
” But, wait, there is more. It also has ejectable and retractable cat claws ”
All three were surprised when the claws came out.
” I am really getting my moneys worth, ” said Sinmara with a smile.
” Oh ” said the blacksmith, as he put the arm down; ” I also took the liberty of making some new armor and gear for you ”
Sinmara beheld the breathtaking armor put before her.
” What is it made of? ” she asked.
” Poleastis ” said the blacksmith with a smile; ” I know that you wield fire, so I thought it wise ”
Sinmara smiled a grateful smile.
The blacksmith also provided both Glöð and Sirrush with some new toys. Sinmara clenched her left hand in excitement, as all three exited the blacksmiths hut.
” So… this is The Black Pharaohs palace ” said Sirrush, as all three entered Nephren-Kas home.
” I hear that he is wicked, ” said Glöð.
” I hear that he has changed, ” said Sinmara.
” Is it true that there is free food? ” said Sirrush.
” It is true, ” said Nephren-Ka with a smile, as the gang entered his throne room.
” It is not poisoned, right? ” said Glöð, as she picked up some food.
” Glöð… ” sighed Sinmara, as she rubbed her own forehead.
” It is quite alright, ” said The Black Pharaoh with a smile. The son of Nitokris picked up, and then ate some of the food.
Glöð had no reason to worry. For the food was not poisoned. Nephren-Ka had truly changed his ways.
All of them sat down to eat. And Nephren-Ka could not help but stare at Sinmaras new arm.
” I don remember you having that, ” said The Black Pharaoh.
” I just got it, ” said Sinmara with a smile, as she took a drink with her left arm.
” Hmm ”
Glöð drank in silence, while Sirrush ate his fill.
The table was clean, and the question was now asked:
” Where is Prometheus Peak? ”
” So you seek to free the fire? ” said Nephren-Ka with a smile.
” We seek to set things right, ” said Glöð.
” How so? ”
” Prometheus did not deserve his punishment, ” said Sirrush.
” He stole, he was punished ”
” And we now seek to end his punishment, ” said Sinmara with a smile.
The Black Pharaoh meditated for a moment. He then said:
” I know not where the peak is… but I can guide you towards one who does ”
Nephren-Ka told the gang to seek out Florella Dabney, an Entwife, within The Old Mans Forest.
And off they rode towards the Forest of the Old Man.
While riding, Glöð felt like singing:
” Flora and fauna. Forest and flowers. Woods and willows. Sunshine and singing ”
” Does your song have any meaning? ” said Sirrush.
” It will, you overgrown reptile ”
Sinmara just giggled, while Hálogi sighed.
Glöð now continued:
” The woods are vast! The trees are tall! The flowers flourish. The animals anoint their great mother – mother nature! ”
” I still don get it… ”
Sinmara signaled for the two of them to be quiet.
Something massive was moving, and getting closer, and closer.
She finally stood before them all – Florella Dabney, an Entwife.
To describe her beauty; would be like describing mother natures beauty – undescribe.
Florella now spoke, with the voice of summer and spring:
” What brings you all hither? ”
Sinmara, eager to free fire, said:
” We seek Prometheus Peak ”
The Entwife paused for a moment, as she chose her words carefully.
” You seek to free the bringer of light? ”
Sinmara nodded.
” I see… I can not get you there. But I know of one who can ”
” Who? ”
” The Dragon of Stone – Tintaggon ”
” Where might we find him? ”
” Seek the valley west of the woods. Where the mountains are the dragon ”
The gang said their farewell and thanks. The Entwife now retreated into the woods, into the embrace of mother nature.
It took a few days, but the gang had now arrived at the valley with the mountains.
” Where is he? ” said Sirrush.
” Keep looking, ” said Glöð.
” Where? All I see are mountains ”
” The mountains are the dragon… ” said Sinmara.
” He is asleep, ” said Hálogi.
” Let us wake him, ”
Sinmara dismounted.
Sirrush and Glöð both beheld fire itself bend to her will.
Sinmara clenched her fist, as she punched straight down onto the ground; creating a massive shockwave.
All was quiet for a bit, till the mountains all started to move.
A tail was now visible. Wings. A body. Horns. And then a head.
The head turned towards the gang.
” Why did you disturb my sleep? ” said Tintaggon with an echoing and deep voice.
” We seek Prometheus Peak, ” said Sinmara.
A look of surprise was noticeable on the dragons face.
” You seek to free fire? ”
Sinmara nodded.
Tintaggon thought about it. He then said:
” Very well. I shall take you there myself ”
” Please be patient ” said Sinmara, as she had to leave Blagdaross behind.
” I shall be patient… ” said the brave horse.
The two of them embraced. The gang then all mounted Tintaggon.
The dragon took flight, leaving the valley barren of any mountains.
” There it is! ” exclaimed Sirrush, as the peak was visible.
Tintaggon landed, and the gang dismounted.
An eagle screeching could now be heard.
Prometheus tormentor came charging at the gang. That was until Tintaggon slammed into the eagle. Both of them; now clashing within the sky.
” That takes care of that, ” said Sirrush.
” It can be that easy… ” said Glöð.
And she was right. For during this whole journey. Lú-érim had always been following the gang. And he too was atop the peak.
The gang turned to face the powerful Lars.
Sinmara got ready for a Panu Punch! But there was no need.
Sinmara smiled, as she said:
” The evening bell has tolled thy name ”
Lú-érim froze, as he heard these chilling words:
” Ask Not For Whom the Bell Tolls; For It Tolls For Thee – Toll Troke! ”
The Black Crusader now beheaded Lú-érim on the spot.
Sinmara nodded, and so did the Crusader.
The way was now clear. And there he was. Prometheus – chained to the mountain.
” We will let you take it from here ” said Glöð, as they and Sirrush stood behind.
Sinmara approached Prometheus.
” The light… the warmth… ” uttered Prometheus, as he slowly lifted his face.
Sinmaras warm smile was the first welcome thing Prometheus had seen in eons.
Sinmara melted the chains, and Prometheus was now free.
Thunder could be heard.
” Oh, shut up! ” yelled Sinmara at the sky.
Sinmara went to help Prometheus up.
” Don bother… ” said the old god; ” my body is broken… ”
” We can get help ”
Prometheus giggled.
” No… this body has no more fire within – Prometheus paused – but there are some embers left… take them ”
Sinmara looked at Prometheus.
” I can … ”
” You must. I shall become fuel for your fire ”
Sinmara took Prometheus hand.
” I shall grant you: Forethinking ”
Prometheus body turned into embers. Those embers now flew into Sinmara. The two fires had become one.
