Tutankh Mummies - Chapter One (3)

2.

9 years later, C.1323 B.C, in an inky, dark room with no windows, only with a big torchlight hanging on the wall made of rough, dark gray limestones, a sorcerer almost finished his job standing in front of those two meter long, golden statues of Osiris* on the right and Set* on the left, on both sides of an altar made of raven granite covered with a wide, dark beige linen cloth, then oddly, those two golden Egyptian Gods glared at each other pointing each ones spear at each others heart, soon as soon as he finished stiring the dark magenta colored liquid into a bronze jar, he picked up a broken long branch on the floor and gave his assistant a look to pour the liquid into the nearby, small bronze bottle with the bronze ladle both on the nearby acacia wood table, his assistant picked up the ladle and the bottle with his both hands carefully and ladled the liquid out of the jar with huge fright, then at that instant, the sorcerer pushed his back with the tip of the branch and directly stepped back, and at the same time, the liquid in the ladle dripped down on his face and chest, in an instant, the liquid melted his entire face and upper body, screaming with the scorching pain, his entire head and half of his upper chest almost disappeared except the half-melted, charred skull and those several almost destroyed bones; all in pitch-dark raven, but the sorcerer stared at the horrible scene calmly with cruel satisfaction, soon as soon as the dead body fell to the floor weakly, the skull and those bones were completely all shattered into pieces and dust,

Then at that instant, the sound of clapping rang out in the room creepily, and at the same time turning his body to the creepy, meager sound, the sorcerer bowed down upon his knees to, Tutankhopesh,

”Your majesty, Im very glad to know that you
e satisfied with this great result of my work, ” said the sorcerer,

And without any answer, Tutankhopesh directly turned his head to his male assistant next to him and gave the assistant a look to do something, so the assistant threw one of those two small raven sacks in his both hands to the dusty floor made of rough, dark gray limestones in front of the sorcerer with his right hand, the sorcerer instantly picked up the sack, when he opened it, it was filled with many rough, small pieces of gold and Carnelian7,

”Im very grateful for your generosity, your highness, ” said he making a deep bow again to Tutankhopesh,

”I checked his chariot, your assistant did well before he died like that, ” said Tutankhopesh catching a glimpse of the already cold, dead body of the assistant coldly,

”Yes, your majesty, that dead guy also said those new stallions of pharaoh are very violent, so if the weak-bodied 18-year-old boy with the deformed leg, rides the chariot with the cracked stick which connects those wheels, if he rides the chariot that those wild horses carry on the rocky field, its only a matter of time before he becomes a dead body, ” said the sorcerer with a creepy voice,

Grinning with a boundless cruel heart, Tutankhopesh instantly opened the rest sack in the left hand of his assistant, he took a handful of pieces of gold out of the sack and threw those gold pieces to the floor in front of the sorcerer,

”You
e very generous to me, your highness, I swear allegiance to you, my king, my god, my pharaoh, ”

Then at that instant, Tutankhopeshs cruel eyes sparkled dangerously,

”Then if he survives, ” said he,

”Your majesty, I hope you don worry about that, please, this special poison that I made with the poison of scorpions, cobras, podostroma cornu-damae8 and roots of devils tails9 and devils fingers10, will make him become a dead body very quickly, as soon as the poison of snake and scorpion makes his blood clotted, the rest mixture of other poisons will destroy his throat, every organ, clotted blood, and other body fluid one by one, and as you smell now, its scent is very strong, so you must use a drop, your assistant must put only a drop into his beverage, ” said the sorcerer,

And at the same time, Tutankhopesh picked up the sack from his assistants hand, holding the sack upside down, he poured those many pieces of carnelian in the sack onto the floor in front of the sorcerer, the sorcerer deeply bowed down upon his knees to Tutankhopesh one more time, and directly raked in those bloody red gemstones wielding his rakelike fingers.

Carnelian7 : Carnelian, also spelled cornelian, is a brownish-red mineral commonly used as a semi-precious gemstone. – source by Wikipedia

Podostroma cornu-damae8 : Podostroma cornu-damae, also known as the poison fire coral, is a species of fungus in the family Hypocreaceae. The fruit bodies of the fungus are highly toxic, and have been responsible for several fatalities in Japan. The fungus contains several trichothecene mycotoxins.

Toxicity : Several poisonings have been reported in Japan resulting from the consumption of the fungus. In 1999, one of a group of five people from Niigata prefecture died two days after consuming about 1 gram (0.035 oz) of fruit body that had been soaked in sake. In 2000, an individual from Gunma prefecture died after eating the fried mushroom. Symptoms associated with consumption in these cases included stomach pains, changes in perception, decrease in the number of leukocytes and thrombocytes, peeling skin on the face, hair loss, and shrinking of the cerebellum, resulting in speech impediment and problems with voluntary movement. In another instance, an autopsy revealed multiple organ failure including acute kidney failure, liver necrosis and disseminated intravascular coagulation.

In one case of poisoning, the patient suffered from hemophagocytosis, in addition to severe leukocytopenia and thrombocytopenia, seven days after ingesting the fungus. Plasmapheresis and administration of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor were used to treat the blood abnormalities. The authors suggested that these treatments, in addition to the large volume of administered intravenous saline – 9 liters (2.0 imp gal; 2.4 U.S. gal) over a 12-hour period—were responsible for his successful recovery.

The poisoning symptoms are similar to those observed previously with animals that had consumed trichothecene mycotoxins. Japanese researchers detected the presence of the macrocyclic trichothecenes satratoxin H, satratoxin H 12′,13′-diacetate, satratoxin H 12′-acetate, and satratoxin H 13′-acetate. When grown in liquid culture the fungus additionally produces roridin E, verrucarin J, and satratoxin H. With the exception of verrucarin J, a 500-microgram dose of any of these compounds, when injected into the abdomen of mice, will result in their death the following day. It has been claimed that touching the fungus can cause skin irritation, but this is controversial.

Devils tails9 : its an imaginary poisonous plant for the scene of poisoning and murdering Tutankhamun and the fight scene in the later chapter.

Devils fingers10 : Clathrus archeri (synonyms Lysurus archeri, Anthurus archeri, Pseudocolus archeri) commonly known as octopus stinkhorn, squidward mushroom, or devils fingers is a fungus which has a global distribution. The young fungus erupts from a suberumpent egg by forming into four to seven elongated slender arms initially erect and attached at the top. The arms then unfold to reveal a pinkish-red interior covered with a dark olive spore-containing gleba. In maturity it smells like putrid flesh. and in real life its not unpoisonous, for the posioning scene the author used the devilish appearance of this fungus.

*Osiris : (1) Osiris, is the god of fertility, agriculture, the afterlife, the dead, resurrection, life, and vegetation in ancient Egyptian religion. He was classically depicted as a green-skinned deity with a pharaohs beard, partially mummy-wrapped at the legs, wearing a distinctive Atef crown, and holding a symbolic crook and flail. He was one of the first to be associated with the mummy wrap. When his brother, Set, cut him up into pieces after killing him, Isis, his wife, found all the pieces and wrapped his body up, enabling him to return to life. Osiris was widely worshipped until the decline of ancient Egyptian religion during the rise of Christianity in the Roman Empire.

Osiris was at times considered the eldest son of the earth god Geb and the sky goddess Nut, as well as being brother and husband of Isis, and brother of Set, Nephthys, and Horus the Elder, with Horus the Younger being considered his posthumously begotten son. Through syncretism with Iah, he was also a god of the Moon.

Osiris was the judge and lord of the dead and the underworld, the ”Lord of Silence ” and Khenti-Amentiu, meaning ”Foremost of the Westerners ”. In the Old Kingdom (2686 – 2181 BC) the pharaoh was considered a son of the sun god Ra who, after his death, ascended to join Ra in the sky. After the spread of the Osiris cult, however, the kings of Egypt were associated with Osiris in death – as Osiris rose from the dead, they would unite with him and inherit eternal life through imitative magic.

Through the hope of new life after death, Osiris began to be associated with the cycles in nature, in particular the sprouting of vegetation and the annual flooding of the Nile River, as well as the heliacal rising of Orion and Sirius at the start of the new year. He became the sovereign that granted all life, ”He Who is Permanently Benign and Youthful ”.

The first evidence of the worship of Osiris is from the middle of the Fifth Dynasty of Egypt (25th century BC), although it is likely that he was worshiped much earlier; the Khenti-Amentiu epithet dates to at least the First Dynasty, and was also used as a pharaonic title. Most information available on the Osiris myth is derived from allusions in the Pyramid Texts at the end of the Fifth Dynasty, later New Kingdom source documents such as the Shabaka Stone and ”The Contendings of Horus and Seth ”, and much later, in the narratives of Greek authors including Plutarch and Diodorus Siculus.

*Set : is a god of deserts, storms, disorder, violence, and foreigners in ancient Egyptian religion. In Ancient Greek, the gods name is given as Sēth (Σήθ). Set had a positive role where he accompanies Ra on his barque to repel Apep, the serpent of Chaos. Set had a vital role as a reconciled combatant. He was lord of the Red Land, where he was the balance to Horus role as lord of the Black Land.

In the Osiris myth, the most important Egyptian myth, Set is portrayed as the usurper who killed and mutilated his own brother, Osiris. Osiriss sister-wife, Isis, reassembled his corpse and resurrected her dead brother-husband with the help of the goddess Nephthys. The resurrection lasted long enough to conceive his son and heir, Horus. Horus sought revenge upon Set and many of the ancient Egyptian myths describe their conflicts.

In ancient Egyptian astronomy, Set was commonly associated with the planet Mercury.

Since he is related to the west of the Nile which is the Sahara, he is sometimes associated with a lesser deity, Ha, god of the desert, which is a deity depicted as a man with a desert determinative on his head.
